Undecalcified histological images at 24 weeks after operation in the coronal plane section using Stevenels blue and Van Gieson’s picro fuchsin staining for the uncovertebral joint fusion cage (A) and the non-profile cage (B). New bone formation was detected in the uncovertebral joint in Group A (arrows, in A) and localized bone formation was also detected in the uncovertebral joint in Group B (long arrows, in B) even without bone grafting in this region. A small amount of new bone formation inside the non-profile cage was observed (short arrows, in B)
