a: the patient is placed in beach-chair position, a minimally invasive incision is perform just laterally or anteriorly to the acromion and a sharp instrument is used to gain the intramedullary canal; b: the fluid nail is then inserted in the medullary canal in a deflated state; c: the balloon is filled with the monomer until a complete expansion is obtained (verified by an increase of the resistance in the syringe or by an X-Ray intensifier) ; d: the polymerization process is activated by the blue light; e: the postoperative X-ray showing the nail correctly expanded as demonstrated by the helicoidal markers; a supplementary screw was used to increase the stability of the proximal segment
