Flow chart of the study design. Twenty-three patients (32 hips) who underwent THA for Crowe type III/IV were enrolled as the high hip dislocation group (H group). The control group was formed by recruiting data-matched controls per patient in the H group. Data-matching involved matching for age (±10 years), sex, body mass index (±5 kg/m2), and surgical approach (posterior approach). The patients in the H group were divided according to whether femoral shortening osteotomy was performed (FO group) or not (N-FO group). THA: total hip arthroplasty; H group: high hip dislocation group
