Representative implant placement simulation (Journey II, left knee osteoarthritis). Femoral implant is placed perpendicular to the three-dimensional functional axis for varus/valgus deformity and extension/flexion. Rotational alignment is set parallel to the transepicondylar axis (surgical epicondylar axis). Using the anterior reference method, the implant is placed so that the posterior of the anterior flange is in contact with the anterior cortex, and size selection is based on the best fit of the medial posterior condyle of the implant. With the posterior reference method, the implant is placed in contact with the posterior border of the medial posterior condyle, and the smallest size that did not form a notch in the anterior cortex is selected
