The energy expenditure resulting from breaking up prolonged sitting might increase brain metabolism by increasing orexins (neuropeptides) and improving cortical circulation. The orexins in turn might stimulate motor excitatory systems (norepinephrine, serotonins) and arousal stimulants (monoamines, acetylcholine)
