An unprocessed synovial fluid sample stained with CellMask™ Deep Red Plasma membrane Stain (pseudocolored green) in (panel a), Alexa Fluor™ 594-labeled fluorescent HABC (pseudocolored red) in (panel b), and a merged image in (panel c). HA-containing particles not associated with vesicle membranes are also visible. Panel d represents electron microscopic ultrastructure of vesicles in synovial fluid. The processing and visualization of the sample for electron microscopy were performed as outlined previously [21]
