Exclusion criteria

Segmental instability (intervertebral motion>11°or 3 mm)

Advanced degenerative changes (marked reduction or absence of intervertebral motion or height)

Facet joint arthrosis or spondylosis

Cervical kyphosis

Active infection

Osteoporosis

Inflammatory spondloarthropathies such as ankylosing spondylitis or rheumatoid arthritis

Expected cord edema and myelomalacia

Known allergy to titanium

Previous cervical spine surgery
