Schematic representation of the structure of aggrecan. Aggrecan is depicted in association with hyaluronan (HA) and link protein (LP) as part of a proteoglycan aggregate. The globular regions of the aggrecan core protein are indicated (G1, G2 and G3) together with the regions of the core protein substituted with keratan sulfate (KS) or chondroitin sulfate (CS1 and CS2) chains.
