Periostin upregulated MMP-1, MMP-3, MMP-13, IL-6, IL-8, and NOS2 in a time-dependent manner. Human primary chondrocytes were stimulated by 20 μg/mL periostin, and the mRNA levels were measured by quantitative RT-PCR at different time points.
