Influence of 1,25(OH) 2 D 3 therapy on parameters of bone formation measured by tetracylin labeling (secondary spongiosa of the third lumbar vertebra) in AIA of the rat. Mineralizing surface (A), mineral apposition rate (B) and bone formation rate (C) were unaffected by AIA. 1,25(OH)2D3 therapy resulted in a highly significant increase of mineralizing surface, mineral apposition rate and bone formation rate in comparison to both vehicle-treated AIA and healthy controls. ***p < 0.001 vs. AIA + vehicle; +++p < 0.001; ++p < 0.01 vs. healthy controls.
