Assessment of bone histology, secondary spongiosa of the right tibia head (representative Masson/Goldner stained sections). In comparison to healthy controls (A), vehicle-treated AIA resulted in a significant bone loss in secondary spongiosa (B). Therapy with 0.2 μg/kg 1,25(OH)2D3 prevented AIA-induced bone loss completely and resulted in a highly significant increase in trabecular bone volume in comparison to both vehicle-treated AIA and healthy controls (C).
