From: Pinealectomy affects bone mineral density and structure - an experimental study in sheep
Bone Mineral Density. The long term course of trabecular bone mineral density at the distal radius. A rapid bone loss was observed in the initial phase after surgery with highest bone loss in Ovx sheep. At later time points a continuous bone loss was found in all pinealectomized animals in contrast to Ovx sheep, which showed a minimal increase in BMD.
